In a gesture of deep respect and concern, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath rushed to Medanta Hospital in Lucknow on Wednesday to meet Nrietya Gopal Das Maharaj, the revered president of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. The spiritual leader, known for his pivotal role in the Ram Temple movement, has been battling serious health issues, prompting the CM’s personal visit.
Yogi Adityanath shared details of the meeting on social media platform X, revealing that he inquired about Maharaj’s condition directly from the doctors. ‘Today, I met Pujya Mahant Nrietya Gopal Das Maharaj of Shri Maniramdas Chhavni at Medanta Hospital in Lucknow, checked on his well-being, and discussed his health with the medical team,’ the CM posted. He concluded with heartfelt prayers for a swift recovery.
Maharaj was admitted in a critical state, reportedly unconscious due to a severe intestinal infection causing persistent diarrhea. He was immediately shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where a team of specialists is closely monitoring his vitals. This isn’t the first time; last September, he faced a similar health scare requiring hospitalization.
For the past five years since 2019, Nrietya Gopal Das has grappled with recurring ailments, particularly urinary issues and difficulties in eating, leading to multiple admissions at the same facility. Born on June 11, 1938, in Kerahala village, Mathura, the 85-year-old Mahant heads the Maniramdas Chhavni Temple and leads the trust established by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad in January 1993 following the Babri Masjid demolition.
Under his stewardship, the trust oversees the grand Ram Temple construction in Ayodhya, a dream realized after decades of relentless struggle. Das has been instrumental in building key structures like Ramayan Bhawan, Shri Ranganath Temple, and Shri Char Dham Temple. His lifelong dedication to the Ram Janmabhoomi Andolan has inspired millions, making his health a matter of national concern.
As the nation watches anxiously, prayers pour in from across Uttar Pradesh and beyond for the recovery of this spiritual titan whose contributions to Hindu heritage remain unmatched. The coming days will be crucial as doctors work tirelessly to stabilize him.
