In a heartfelt appeal to the people of Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has penned an open letter calling for collective action to reduce the alarming rate of road accidents. The letter, released on Wednesday, emphasizes that preventing tragedies on the state’s highways and bylanes requires everyone’s cooperation.

Yogi highlighted the devastating toll of road mishaps, noting that thousands of lives are lost annually due to reckless driving, poor road discipline, and disregard for traffic rules. ‘Every life lost is a family shattered,’ he wrote, underscoring the human cost behind the statistics.

The Chief Minister outlined key areas where public participation is crucial. He urged citizens to wear helmets and seatbelts without fail, avoid drunk driving, and strictly adhere to speed limits. ‘Our roads are arteries of progress, but they turn deadly when we ignore basic safety,’ Yogi stated.

He also called on vehicle owners to ensure their automobiles are roadworthy, with regular checks on brakes, lights, and tires. Parents were specifically advised to educate young drivers about responsible behavior behind the wheel.

The government, Yogi assured, is ramping up enforcement through increased patrolling, advanced surveillance, and stricter penalties for violators. New initiatives like awareness campaigns in schools and villages are underway. Yet, he stressed that no amount of official effort can succeed without public commitment.

This letter comes amid a spike in accidents during the festive season, prompting the CM to reiterate his zero-tolerance policy. ‘Let us pledge to make Uttar Pradesh’s roads safe for all,’ he concluded, signing off with a call for unity.

Residents have responded positively on social media, sharing stories of near-misses and vowing to follow the guidelines. As the state pushes for safer mobility, Yogi’s message serves as a timely reminder that road safety is a shared responsibility.
