GREATER NOIDA: Chaos erupted during a wedding procession in Rampur Fatehpur village under Dadri police station limits on Friday evening, turning a joyous celebration into a scene of terror. A group of 30-40 armed assailants launched a brutal attack on the baraat, wielding sticks, clubs, and axes, leaving 8 to 10 people seriously injured.
Eyewitnesses described a sudden onslaught as the attackers arrived in multiple vehicles, catching the wedding party completely off guard. Panic spread like wildfire as guests fled in all directions, with women and children screaming in fear amid the violence. Several vehicles were also vandalized during the frenzy.
The baraat had come from Jagannpur village in Dankaur area to Rampur Fatehpur for the wedding. What started as a verbal altercation over an old feud quickly escalated into a full-blown clash. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital, with some admitted to the ICU for critical care.
Dadri police station in-charge rushed to the spot with heavy reinforcements upon receiving the alert. They secured the area, provided immediate medical aid, and deployed additional forces to prevent further unrest. Tension lingered in the village for hours afterward.
Authorities have registered a case and formed three special teams to apprehend the culprits. Initial medical reports indicate no gunshot or severe weapon injuries, but multiple victims suffered serious blows. Police are interrogating locals, identifying suspects, and vowing strict action. Continuous patrolling continues to maintain peace in the area.
