Special Public Prosecutor Achintya Dwivedi said that in the year 2009-10, a program of distribution of artificial limbs and equipment to the disabled was organized by Dr. Zakir Hussain Memorial Trust of Louise Khurshid, wife of former Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid, in Bhojipura area of the district. When allegations of rigging were leveled in this program, the government got the matter investigated. During investigation, it was found that government funds were misused by using fake seals and signatures in the programme.
He told that a case was registered in this case in Bhojipura police station in the year 2017. Lewis Khurshid and organization’s secretary Mohammad Athar Farooqui were nominated in this. The police had filed the charge sheet against both the accused in the court. The court issued summons several times after that, but the accused neither came to appear nor got bail. After this, on Wednesday, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Shambhavi of the special MP-MLA court issued an arrest warrant in this regard. The next hearing in this case will be on 16 February.
