Lok Sabha Elections: Voting continues in 8 seats of UP in the second phase, 1.67 crore voters will decide the fate of 91 candidates.

Lok Sabha Election 2024. In the second phase of Lok Sabha elections, voting is going on today from 7 am on eight seats of Uttar Pradesh. Voting will be held till 6 pm in Amroha, Meerut, Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Aligarh and Mathura. 1.67 crore voters from eight Lok Sabha seats will decide the fate of 91 candidates, including 10 women candidates.

Maximum 15 candidates each are trying their luck in Gautam Buddha Nagar and Mathura seats and minimum six candidates are trying their luck in Bulandshahr. In the last elections, out of these eight seats, seven went to BJP and one to BSP. State Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa said that all preparations have been completed for free and fair elections. There are 1,67,77,198 voters in UP in the second phase. Of these, there are 90,26,051 male, 77,50,356 female and 791 third gender voters.

The highest number of voters is in Ghaziabad at 29.45 lakh and the least in Baghpat is 16.53 lakh. Out of total 17704 polling booths, 3472 are sensitive. To keep a vigilant eye on the voting, the Commission has also deployed 3 special observers, 8 general observers, 5 police observers and 12 expenditure observers. Apart from this, 1451 Sector Magistrates, 190 Zonal Magistrates, 222 Static Magistrates and 1599 Micro Observers have also been deployed.
