Former Samajwadi Party MLA from Lucknow’s Mahilabad seat Indal Rawat has been arrested by Gomti Nagar Police in a case of fraud worth crores. Indal Rawat is facing serious charges of cheating a real estate company. Indal Rawat, who was earlier a Samajwadi Party MLA, later left the party and joined Congress.
Fraud case from real estate company
According to the police, Indal Rawat got the land registered fraudulently in connivance with a real estate company, Raj Infra Housing Private Limited, and charged Rs 2.52 crore from the company. The company’s managing director Rajesh Pandey said that Indal Rawat contacted him in 2014 and signed an agreement to build a six-storey building on the land located in Behta Sabauli. After this, the company gave Rs 2.52 crore to Rawat, out of which Rs 49 lakh was first transferred to the account, Rs 1 crore 48 lakh was transferred for the second time, and Rs 55 lakh was given in cash.

Fake registration and allegations
The company later found out that the said land was not in the name of Indal Rawat. When the company contacted Rawat regarding this, he assured to resolve the issue. But when there was no solution and the company asked for the money back, Rawat refused.
Police action and inquiry
Gomti Nagar police arrested Indal Rawat on Thursday night and questioned him for two hours. ACP Gomti Nagar Anshu Jain said that Rajesh Pandey, Managing Director of Raj Infra Housing, had filed a case against Rawat in February on the orders of the court.
