Meerut. SP MLA Rafiq Ansari has been arrested by the police from Barabanki. Allahabad High Court had ordered the arrest and production of the MLA. Police has taken action on this.
Meerut SP MLA Rafiq Ansari has been arrested from Barabanki in a criminal case. SP MLA Rafiq Ansari was absconding for the last 26 years. During this time, the court kept issuing non-bailable warrants and attachment orders against him. But till date no warrant could be executed against him. Rafiq had gone to court in this case, but the court made a harsh comment and not only rejected Rafiq’s petition but also directed the DGP to execute the warrant and submit his report to the court.

Let us tell you that on 12 September 1995, an FIR was lodged against Rafiq Ansari and 35/40 other people in Meerut’s Nauchandi police station on charges of rioting, vandalism and arson. Out of this, the police filed a chargesheet against 22 people on 24 October 1995. Whereas, a supplementary chargesheet was filed against Rafiq Ansari on 22 June 1996. The court issued a non-bailable warrant against Rafiq on 18 December 1997. But he never appeared in the court. During this time, the trial against 22 accused was completed on 15 May 1997 and all were acquitted, but the court continued to issue non-bailable warrants and attachment orders against the SP MLA.
