Allahabad Lok Sabha Election. Allahabad seat of Uttar Pradesh is in the headlines these days. There is a direct contest between BJP and Congress in this seat. Congress has made Ujjwal Raman Singh, who joined Congress from SP, as its candidate. BJP has given a chance to Neeraj Tripathi by cutting the ticket of Rita Bahuguna Joshi on this seat. Voting will be held on this seat in the sixth phase on 25 May. BSP has made Ramesh Kumar Patel its candidate on Allahabad seat.
Congress dominated Allahabad from 1952 to 1971. After which, in the Lok Sabha elections held for the first time in the year 1952, Shriprakash contested on Congress ticket and was made MP. After which, in the year 1957, Lal Bahadur Shastri contested the election from this seat and won twice. After which Harikrishna Shastri won in 1967 and Hemwati Nandan won in 1971. Till the year 2019, by-elections have been held on Allahabad Lok Sabha seat 3 times. After this, in the year 1973, Janeshwar Mishra had won. This year, Janeshwar Mishra from Bharatiya Kranti Dal contested the elections and won. In the year 1984, Amitabh Bachchan became MP from here on Congress ticket. VP Singh won the 1988 by-election as an independent candidate.

BJP had won the Allahabad seat for the first time in the year 1186. After which BJP’s Murli Manohar Joshi won continuously from 1996 to 1999. After this, Revati Raman Singh of Samajwadi Party won in the years 2004 and 2009. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, BJP’s Shyama Charan Gupta defeated SP’s Revati Raman Singh by 62 thousand 9 votes in Allahabad Lok Sabha seat. BJP’s Rita Bahuguna Joshi had won the Lok Sabha elections 2019 from Allahabad. In which he defeated SP candidate Rajendra Singh Patel.
Let us tell you that there are total five Lok Sabha seats in Allahabad parliamentary constituency. Which includes Meja, Karchana, Allahabad South, Barah and Koraon. At present BJP has control over four of these five seats. This time, a direct contest is visible between BJP and Congress in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Congress has fielded Ujjwal Raman Singh, son of Samajwadi Party leader Kunwar Revati Raman Singh, as its candidate. In front of him is Neeraj Tripathi, son of veteran BJP leader Kesharinath Tripathi.
