Anmol Bishnoi, a fugitive wanted in India for serious offenses including the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddiqui, is returning to the country tomorrow, Wednesday, following his extradition from the United States. He is expected to arrive at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on a flight that also carries 199 other deportees.

Bishnoi, closely linked to his elder brother and notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, is implicated in numerous criminal cases nationwide. His alleged participation in the assassination of Baba Siddiqui and the shooting outside Salman Khan’s residence in April 2024 are among the primary concerns for Indian law enforcement. It is reported that Bishnoi departed India in April 2022 using fraudulent travel documents, preceding the widely publicized murder of Punjabi artist Sidhu Moosewala.

This extradition is the result of coordinated efforts by various Indian agencies. The Mumbai Police had initiated the process by submitting requests for Bishnoi’s return. The Union government will oversee the handover and decide which agency will take initial custody, given the multiple legal proceedings against him. Bishnoi’s recent detentions in the US and Canada, and his alleged use of a Russian passport with forged documents, underscore the extensive efforts made for his apprehension. The National Investigation Agency had actively sought information on him, offering a significant reward.

Evidence gathered in the investigations of Sidhu Moosewala’s death and Baba Siddiqui’s murder has implicated Anmol Bishnoi. Zeeshan Siddique, Baba Siddiqui’s son, has confirmed that Bishnoi is no longer in the US, signaling his imminent return to face legal proceedings. The murder of Baba Siddiqui in Bandra on October 12, 2024, led to a sweeping investigation and the application of MCOCA by the Mumbai Police, with Anmol Bishnoi identified as a key wanted suspect alongside others.
