In a remarkable achievement, Anuj Agnihotri from Jodhpur has clinched the All India Rank 1 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2025. A graduate of AIIMS Jodhpur with an MBBS degree, Anuj chose Medical Science as his optional subject, leveraging his medical background to secure the top spot in one of India’s toughest exams.
Rajeshwari Suve M, securing AIR 2, is an engineer from Anna University, Chennai, where she completed her BE in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. She opted for Sociology as her optional subject to bag the second position. Meanwhile, Akansh Dhul, a B.Com graduate from Delhi University, grabbed AIR 3 with Commerce and Accountancy as his optional.
The top five also features strong representation from Delhi University. Raghav Jhunjhunwala, with a BA (Hons) in Economics from DU, took AIR 4 using Economics as his optional. Ishan Bhatnagar, who studied BA LLB (Hons) at National Law University, rounded off the top five with Sociology.
UPSC announced the final results on Friday, highlighting diverse academic backgrounds among the top 25. These include graduates from prestigious institutions like IITs, NLUs, AIIMS, DTU, Anna University, DU, and Mumbai University, spanning engineering, humanities, sciences, commerce, law, medicine, and mass communication.
Optional subjects in the top 25 ranged from Chemistry, Anthropology, and Medical Science to Commerce, Economics, Electrical Engineering, History, Mathematics, Philosophy, Political Science, Public Administration, and Sociology. Among the recommended 958 candidates, 42 have benchmark disabilities, including locomotor, visual, hearing, and multiple disabilities.
The prelims held on May 25, 2025, saw 576,793 out of 937,876 applicants appear. Mains in August had 14,161 eligible candidates, with 2,736 reaching interviews. The top five includes one woman and four men among 659 men and 299 women recommended.
