Lucknow’s financial landscape is shining brighter than ever. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath chaired a high-level review meeting on Friday, dissecting the revenue collections up to February in the financial year 2025-26. The state has amassed over ₹1.96 lakh crore in tax and non-tax revenues, setting a strong foundation for ambitious development projects.

The annual target for tax revenue stands at ₹2.95 lakh crore, with ₹1,96,177 crore already secured by February’s end. State taxes including GST and VAT aimed for ₹1.75 lakh crore, achieving ₹1.03 lakh crore so far—GST contributing ₹75,195 crore and VAT ₹28,575 crore. CM Yogi emphasized that this revenue surge directly fuels infrastructure growth, social welfare, and industrial expansion across Uttar Pradesh.

Innovative measures are driving compliance. The Commercial Tax Department leveraged GST 2.0, AI-driven risk analysis, intensive scrutiny, e-invoicing, and e-way bill monitoring. Key wins include AI probes on 1.59 lakh taxpayers, outreach in 75 districts, curbing fake ITC claims, and recovering ₹3,117 crore. Excise Department exceeded last year’s figures by 13.2%, collecting ₹48,501 crore against a ₹63,000 crore target, with a roadmap for additional ₹9,050 crore in March through shop renewals and license fees.

Stamp and Registration hit ₹29,487 crore of ₹38,150 crore, banking on upcoming projects in Yamuna Expressway, Greater Noida, and other hubs. Transport raked in ₹11,005 crore of ₹14,000 crore via better vehicle registrations and digital enforcement. Land revenue and energy together added ₹3,414 crore, up 12.6% year-on-year. Mining achieved ₹3,597 crore of ₹6,000 crore, bolstered by digital mapping and GPS tracking.

Directing departments to ramp up with transparency and innovation, CM Yogi urged Excise to clamp down on illicit liquor ahead of Holi. He pushed for digitized land records, modernized registries, safer buses, and expanded transport routes. This revenue momentum promises accelerated progress for UP’s 24 crore residents, turning fiscal discipline into tangible prosperity.
