The delimitation process has brought significant changes to the upcoming three-tier panchayat elections in Uttar Pradesh. The Director of Panchayati Raj, Amit Singh, confirmed that the process has led to a reduction of 40 Zilla Panchayat seats, 1,500 Kshetra Panchayat (BDC) wards, and 4,608 Gram Panchayat wards. The restructuring is a result of urban expansion and the creation of new urban bodies. The report on delimitation is being prepared rapidly, with 47 districts already submitting their ward reorganization reports to the government, while 28 other districts have been instructed to submit their reports soon.
