In a major push for transparency under the Jal Jeevan Mission, residents of Uttar Pradesh can now access detailed water quality reports for household tap water connections both online and offline. This initiative ensures that every citizen has real-time insights into the safety and purity of their drinking water.

Central Drinking Water and Sanitation Secretary Ashok Kumar Meena issued these directives during a one-day visit to Lucknow. He emphasized integrating Uttar Pradesh’s JJM portal (jjm.up.gov.in) with national dashboards like the JJM Village Dashboard and DW&SM Dashboard. This seamless linkage will provide villagers with comprehensive data on local water schemes, quality tests, and supply schedules.

During a high-level review meeting with state officials, Meena assessed the mission’s progress across Uttar Pradesh. He stressed the need for timely implementation and empowered Village Water and Sanitation Committees to handle operations and maintenance effectively at the grassroots level.

Meena’s visit included a field inspection at Chand Sarai village in GosaiGanj. He praised the village’s water supply system as an exemplary model, highlighting its efficiency and reliability. Interacting with the gram pradhan and locals, he gathered feedback that underscored the transformative impact: families no longer trek long distances for water, enjoying clean supply at home, which saves time and boosts health outcomes.

This move aligns with the mission’s goal of providing 55 liters of safe water per person daily by 2024. With public access to quality data, accountability rises, potentially reducing waterborne diseases and fostering community ownership. Uttar Pradesh, with over 2.5 crore rural households targeted, leads in national coverage, and such innovations could accelerate nationwide success.
