by World Opinion

In a major push for Uttar Pradesh’s defense manufacturing ambitions, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath handed over allotment letters for 75 hectares of land in the Chitrakoot node of the UP Defense Industrial Corridor to Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) Chairman and Managing Director Manoj Jain on Wednesday. This strategic move marks a pivotal step in the organized development of the Chitrakoot defense hub, fortifying the state’s defense production infrastructure while accelerating industrial growth in the Bundelkhand region.

Speaking at the event, CM Yogi emphasized that this initiative will position Uttar Pradesh as a reliable powerhouse in defense manufacturing. The Chitrakoot node, strategically located in central India, benefits from superior logistics connectivity and geographical advantages, emerging as a prime center for defense production. It promises to drive investments, job creation, and high-tech industrial advancement in the coming years.

Under this project, BEL will invest approximately ₹562.5 crore to establish a state-of-the-art manufacturing unit for advanced radars and air defense systems. This facility will not only bolster high-tech production in the defense sector but also enhance industrial efficiency and technological capabilities across the state. Expectations are high for over 300 direct jobs, with thousands more in ancillary sectors, opening doors for local youth.

The CM highlighted how this high-tech unit in Chitrakoot will create quality employment opportunities, reducing migration for work. It will strengthen the regional economy, foster skilled human resources, research, and innovation, building a modern industrial ecosystem. Aligning with Atmanirbhar Bharat, it will reduce import dependency, promote indigenous production, and support MSME growth through technology transfer and collaboration.

Chitrakoot, long celebrated for its cultural and spiritual heritage, is now stepping into defense manufacturing prominence. This project bridges tradition and modernity, ensuring balanced, inclusive growth for Uttar Pradesh.
