New Delhi: Congress leader Udit Raj has unleashed a scathing attack on the central government following the United States’ limited waiver on India’s oil imports from Russia. In a bold statement, Raj declared that India’s current rulers are none other than former US President Donald Trump, highlighting what he sees as a blatant erosion of national sovereignty.

Raj pointed out that decisions on when and from whom India buys its oil are now being dictated by Washington. ‘This is a direct assault on our independence,’ he asserted, calling such interference completely unacceptable in today’s geopolitical climate.

Expanding his critique, the leader expressed outrage over the resignation of West Bengal’s governor and Nitish Kumar’s nomination to the Rajya Sabha. ‘Democracy in India is hanging by a thread,’ Raj lamented, accusing the BJP of forcing popular figures like Nitish Kumar out of chief ministership under duress.

He revealed insider information suggesting direct pressure from the center, with officials reportedly asking, ‘When are you stepping down?’ Dismissing claims of prior discussions during assembly elections, Raj argued that the moves lack any logical political rationale and smack of authoritarian tactics.

Delving into JD(U)’s woes, Raj blamed Chirag Paswan’s LJP (Ram Vilas) for weakening the party in the 2020 Bihar polls. He alleged BJP’s double game: allying with JD(U) while fielding strong LJP candidates against them on key seats, orchestrating a calculated rebellion to diminish Nitish’s influence.

As tensions simmer in Bihar’s political landscape, Raj’s remarks underscore deepening rifts within the NDA alliance and raise questions about the future of federalism under the current regime. With oil diplomacy intersecting domestic power plays, India’s autonomy stands at a crossroads.
