Ratnagiri’s Guardian Minister Uday Samant expressed profound grief over the tragic demise of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in a plane crash. Speaking to reporters, Samant described Pawar not just as a political mentor but as a close family-like figure who guided him through thick and thin.
Their relationship transcended politics. Pawar offered constant advice, sometimes with a friendly scolding to keep Samant on track. The two shared regular, warm conversations that strengthened their bond. To underscore this personal connection, Samant showed journalists a cherished photo with Pawar.
Just hours before the tragedy, Samant had spoken to Pawar thrice on the phone around 7 PM, discussing development projects in Pune MIDC and key political matters. The morning news of Pawar’s death in the crash hit Samant like a thunderbolt.
Reflecting on their shared history, Samant credited Pawar for kickstarting his political journey under Sharad Pawar’s leadership. For nearly 25 years, Pawar stood by him selflessly, helping him build a statewide presence. ‘Losing such a pillar is an irreplaceable loss,’ Samant said.
He prayed for Pawar’s soul and strength for the Pawar family. Maharashtra has lost a towering leader whose contributions to the state’s growth will echo forever. This void in experienced leadership will be felt deeply in the political landscape for years to come.
The crash occurred during an emergency landing on Wednesday morning, claiming the lives of all five aboard, including Pawar. Condolences have poured in from the President, Prime Minister, and leaders nationwide.
