In a tragic turn of events on Saturday, two individuals lost their lives in separate train accidents along the Patna-Gaya railway section in Jehanabad district, Bihar. The incidents occurred near Jehanabad Court Halt and Makhdumpur railway station, prompting immediate police action.

The first mishap claimed the life of 50-year-old Dilip Kumar Sharma from Shahbazpur village in Gaya district. Sharma, who resided with his family in Shanti Niwas area of Jehanabad, was overseeing construction of a house near the court station. Family members recounted that during morning excavation work at the site, a snake appeared, startling Sharma. In panic, he fled towards the railway tracks just as a MEMU passenger train approached.

The collision was severe, severing one of his hands and causing fatal head injuries. He died on the spot. Sadar police station officers arrived promptly, initiated inquiries, and sent the body for post-mortem. As news spread, relatives and villagers gathered at Sadar Hospital, creating an emotional scene of grief.

Barely hours later, on the same rail stretch near Makhdumpur station, an unidentified man, estimated to be around 30 years old, met a similar fate after being hit by a train. He was wearing a sky-blue full-sleeve shirt and blue trousers at the time.

GRP in-charge Deep Narayan Yadav stated that the body will be preserved in the mortuary for 72 hours post-autopsy to aid identification.
