Indian Railways has transformed dramatically over the past 11 years, making train journeys safer, faster, and more comfortable for millions of passengers. From upgraded tracks to advanced safety systems, the network now stands as a beacon of reliability in public transport.

Key initiatives like the elimination of unmanned level crossings and the introduction of Kavach – India’s indigenous train collision avoidance system – have drastically reduced accidents. Over 7,000 such crossings have been removed, replaced by overbridges and underpasses, saving countless lives.

Station redevelopment under Amrit Bharat and modernization of 401 key stations have enhanced passenger amenities. Wi-Fi at major stations, escalators, and clean facilities are now the norm. Electrification efforts have covered 93% of the broad gauge network, cutting emissions and fuel costs.

Vande Bharat semi-high-speed trains symbolize this progress, connecting cities with speeds up to 180 kmph. Freight corridors like Dedicated Freight Corridors (DFC) have decongested passenger lines, boosting efficiency.

Looking ahead, the ambitious plan for 2026-27 includes renewing 7,900 kilometers of tracks. This will further enhance safety and speed, targeting complete track modernization. Coupled with plans for 100 Vande Bharat trains and hyperloop studies, India’s rail future looks unstoppable.

These strides not only reflect government commitment but also position Indian Railways as a global leader in sustainable transport.
