PM’s UNGA Participation
The 80th session of the UNGA begins on September 9. PM Modi might travel to the US to attend this assembly. The high-level general debate is scheduled from September 23 to 29. Brazil usually speaks first, followed by the United States. President Trump is set to address the General Assembly on September 23. Leaders from India, Israel, China, Pakistan, and Bangladesh are also scheduled to speak on September 26.
Possible Meeting Between Leaders
The US initially imposed a 25% tariff on India. This was followed by an additional 25% due to India’s trade with Russia, increasing the total tariff to 50%. These tariffs have increased tensions between the two countries. It is believed that the PM’s visit could pave the way for a meeting with President Trump.
