Finland’s Prime Minister Petteri Orpo arrived Wednesday morning, greeted warmly by India’s Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Jayant Singh, at the airport. Sweden’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy, Business, and Industry, Ebba Busch, also landed the same day, while UK Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy made his entrance late Tuesday night. The Ministry of External Affairs extended official welcomes to all, underscoring the strengthening diplomatic ties.
The Ministry highlighted India-Sweden relations as a model of collaboration in trade, economy, science, innovation, climate action, and education. For Finland, the visit promises to deepen partnerships in digital technology, AI, sustainability, and education. The UK contingent’s presence is viewed as a pivotal step in elevating the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, with a shared vision for trustworthy, inclusive, and responsible AI driving innovation, economic growth, and mutual prosperity.
Spanning five days, the India AI Impact Summit 2026 embodies India’s ethos of ‘Sarva Jan Hitaya, Sarva Jan Sukhaya’—for the welfare and happiness of all—and the global principle of ‘AI for Humanity.’ Expectations are high for more international dignitaries throughout the day. The event boasts participation from over 110 countries, 30 international organizations, nearly 20 heads of state or government, and around 45 ministers.
As the fourth installment in the AI Summit series—following Bletchley Park (UK) in 2023, South Korea in 2024, and France in 2025—this gathering positions New Delhi as a central hub for shaping AI’s transformative future. Discussions will delve into ethical frameworks, technological advancements, and strategies to harness AI for global good, promising actionable insights for policymakers and innovators alike.
