CHENNAI: In a prestigious move ahead of Republic Day 2026, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin announced on Sunday that 44 dedicated personnel will receive the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Intelligence and Excellence in Special Operations. This recognition highlights the unsung heroes working tirelessly behind the scenes to safeguard the state.
The awards go to 43 police officers and constables from various units, along with one special branch assistant. These medals honor those who have demonstrated exceptional skill in gathering critical intelligence, crafting operational strategies, and executing high-stakes missions that ensure internal security and public safety.
Often operating in shadowy, high-pressure environments, these professionals face immense risks without public acclaim. The Chief Minister’s initiative aims to acknowledge their loyalty, dedication, and professional prowess, while inspiring others in the force.
Each recipient will be presented with a 10-gram gold medal and a cash prize of Rs 25,000 during a special ceremony on Republic Day, led by CM Stalin himself. Selection was based on performance metrics, operational impact, and commitment to state security.
Police and intelligence circles have warmly welcomed the announcement, calling it a timely boost to morale. This gesture underscores the vital role of intelligence and special ops teams in maintaining law and order, peace, and stability across Tamil Nadu.
As the state gears up for Republic Day celebrations, these awards serve as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by those who protect from the frontlines and the shadows alike, reinforcing the backbone of Tamil Nadu’s security apparatus.
