Patna/Ranchi, February 4: BJP leaders have unleashed a sharp critique against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over her Supreme Court petition challenging the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists. Accusing her of staging a political spectacle to mask impending electoral defeat, they claim she’s spreading misinformation to mislead the public.

Bihar Minister Dilip Jaiswal, speaking exclusively to IANS, asserted that Mamata Banerjee has realized the Trinamool Congress (TMC) is rapidly losing its base in West Bengal. ‘She’s resorting to theatrics and attempting to confuse the masses out of desperation,’ he said. Jaiswal dismissed her actions as mere ‘theater’ that won’t sustain for long.

Echoing similar sentiments, BJP’s Jharkhand state president Sanjay Sarawgi defended the Election Commission’s transparency, noting no substantial complaints have been lodged against it. ‘The SIR process is underway nationwide, not just in Bengal,’ he emphasized, slamming Mamata for allegedly orchestrating ‘goondagardi’ (thuggery) through her party workers—a tactic he predicts won’t last.

Sarawgi portrayed the Election Commission as a constitutional body and accused the Bengal government of misusing state resources. He further alleged that infiltrators are exploiting Bengal’s resources, burdening ordinary citizens. ‘BJP’s victory in Bengal is certain, and Mamata’s panic over defeat is already evident,’ he declared confidently.

BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdev joined the chorus, labeling Mamata’s moves as a desperate bid to craft a false narrative. ‘She knows she’s losing the elections, so she’s long claimed SIR is targeted solely at her,’ he said, clarifying that the revision is a standard national procedure.

As political tensions escalate ahead of the polls, BJP leaders project unwavering confidence in unseating TMC, portraying Mamata’s legal maneuvers as a sign of her weakening position. The coming months will test these bold predictions amid heightened voter scrutiny.
