Thane Metro Trial Run Signals Progress for Enhanced Public Transport

A crucial trial run was successfully undertaken on the Thane Metro’s Line 4 and 4A, marking a step towards improving public transport in the region. The 10-kilometer test run took place between Cadbury Junction and Kasarvadavali. The project’s goal is to reduce travel durations across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. With the trial’s completion, it’s estimated that the metro will cater to 13 to 14 lakh daily commuters. The Mumbai Metro Line 4, featuring a 32.32 km elevated structure and 30 stations, will connect key transport arteries. This enhanced connectivity aims to improve accessibility to Mumbai’s commercial areas and government establishments. The metro line is expected to substantially cut travel times. Line 4A, which is a 2.7 km extension from Kasarvadavali to Gaymukh, will further contribute to the goal of faster travel. The Thane Metro is expected to benefit numerous daily commuters by offering faster and more affordable commuting choices, especially students and those working in offices. The project’s completion is anticipated by the end of 2026.
