Hyderabad, March 1: In a proactive move amid escalating tensions in the Gulf region, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has issued a stern advisory to all Telugu-speaking individuals residing in Iran and other Gulf countries. With reports of conflict swirling, the CM emphasized the need for utmost vigilance.
Reddy urged the diaspora to strictly adhere to safety guidelines issued by local authorities and to keep a close eye on advisories from Indian embassies in the respective nations. ‘Your safety is our top priority,’ he stated, underscoring the government’s commitment.
The Telangana administration is monitoring the situation of its citizens in real-time. Officials have been directed to coordinate seamlessly with the central government and maintain constant communication with Indian diplomatic missions. In any emergency, swift evacuation protocols will be activated to ensure safe returns home.
This alert comes against the backdrop of recent attacks, including Iran’s strike on a US naval base, heightening concerns across the region. Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Ayyanna Patrudu has reached out to Telugu workers in Bahrain, where around 50,000 from the state are employed, many from his own constituency of Narsipatnam in Anakapalli district.
Patrudu personally spoke with several expats, inquiring about their well-being and advising them to seek shelter in safe locations and follow local government directives. He assured full support through the Andhra Pradesh Non-Resident Telugu Society (APNRTS) and promised to liaise with Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu if repatriation becomes necessary.
As the situation remains fluid, both state leaders are leaving no stone unturned to protect their people abroad. The Telugu community in the Gulf, a vital economic backbone for these states, is urged to prioritize safety above all.
