Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav is facing escalating legal challenges, with cases registered against him in multiple states following a social media post. The post, which contained a cartoon critical of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has resulted in FIRs being filed in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra.

The case in Maharashtra was filed based on a complaint from BJP MLA Milind Ramji Narote, alleging that Yadav shared an objectionable and insulting post targeting Prime Minister Modi. The Gadchiroli police have registered the case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code. These developments are expected to intensify Yadav’s legal problems.

Simultaneously, in Uttar Pradesh, a case has been filed in Shahjahanpur’s Sadar Bazar police station based on a complaint from the BJP’s city president, Shilpi Gupta. Gupta stated that Yadav’s comments against the Prime Minister had angered the nation, urging the police to take strong action.

The focal point of the controversy is a cartoon shared by Yadav, which depicted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Gaya rally as a ‘shop of rhetoric.’ The post, shared on X before the rally, portrayed the Prime Minister as a shopkeeper. The shop’s sign read, ‘Famous shop of rhetoric.’ In the post, Yadav called on Modi to account for his 11 years in power and the NDA government’s 20 years.

The contentious post contained Yadav’s assertion that a ‘shop of lies and rhetoric’ would be set up in Gaya. He further criticized the Prime Minister, stating that the people of Bihar would dismantle the ‘mountains of lies and rhetoric.’

During a rally in Gaya, Prime Minister Modi targeted the RJD, drawing attention to the challenges experienced during the ‘lantern rule.’
