The defense partnership between India and the United States is undeterred by existing tariff disagreements, with both countries actively pursuing collaboration in the defense sector. HAL, a leading Indian aerospace manufacturer, is preparing for extensive discussions with the US regarding the joint production of the GE F414-INS6 engine in India. This initiative is designed to power the Tejas Mk-2 and the AMCA project. The forthcoming agreement anticipates a significant transfer of technology, but the design and development aspect of the engine will be a separate endeavor. The first flight of the Tejas Mk-2 is projected for 2027, and the Indian Air Force plans to integrate the aircraft into its fleet by 2031.
