Following a fatal road accident involving a delivery boy in North 24 Parganas, West Bengal, a tense situation unfolded. A crowd gathered at the scene, leading to a demonstration. Clashes ensued between police and protesters, with stone-pelting reported. The police responded by using tear gas to disperse the crowd and regain control. The incident occurred near Salt Lake, between Wednesday and Thursday night. According to accounts, the delivery boy was en route to Salt Lake and stopped at a signal when a four-wheeler struck him. The impact caused his leg to become lodged in a metal rod, and the vehicle caught fire, resulting in the delivery boy’s death. Witnesses stated that no one provided immediate aid. They also alleged that the police used tear gas to disperse the gathering crowd after the accident. A police official mentioned that upon arrival, they found a burning car and a deceased person. They assisted in rescuing other passengers who were trapped and sent them to the hospital. Despite the arrival of the fire brigade, some individuals continued to throw stones. The police initially held back, but they were forced to use tear gas when protesters attempted to block the road.
