An incident occurred on Wednesday morning where Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was attacked by Rajesh Khimji Sakaria, a 41-year-old from Rajkot, Gujarat, during a public hearing at her home. The CM was injured and is under medical care. The attacker’s mother explained that her son was motivated by his strong feelings for dogs, particularly his opposition to the proposed policies regarding stray dogs. The mother said that the man was upset because of the Supreme Court’s order against stray dogs. Sakaria is reported to have approached the CM around 8 am, after which he allegedly assaulted her. Security officers intervened and arrested him. He is currently in custody, being questioned at the Civil Lines police station. Delhi Police are working with Gujarat authorities to confirm his identity. CM Gupta was examined medically following the event. The Delhi BJP president described the CM as shaken by the incident.
