Pressure is the default environment in relation to the alliance of comfort that the ruling coalition in Maharashtra is. If Eknath Shinde is at pains to repeatedly show that he’s greater than a puppet leader minister, the BJP loses no alternative to remind him that he owes his place to them. And so the strikes and countermoves play in a loop, the previous’s petulant streaks of autonomy being met by means of his one-time patron with a lot of, smartly, patronising.
