In a decisive move to safeguard public order, Srinagar Police has launched a crackdown on a network spreading deliberate fake news aimed at misleading the public and inciting unrest. The action comes amid rising concerns over misinformation campaigns targeting Jammu and Kashmir.

Authorities have registered an FIR at the Cyber Police Station against several news channels, media outlets, and social media platforms that have been disseminating fabricated and unverified content. Police spokesperson revealed that these entities are systematically pushing false narratives without any fact-checking, with the clear intent to disrupt peace and harmony in the region.

‘Such campaigns pose a grave threat to the nation’s peace, security, and unity,’ the spokesperson emphasized. Multiple profiles involved in this activity have been identified, and those summoned to the cyber cell are under scrutiny. Investigations are ongoing, with strict legal action promised against anyone found guilty.

Srinagar Police issued a stern warning: anyone propagating fake news, inflammatory content, or unverified information will face severe consequences under the law. Citizens and media organizations are urged to verify facts from official and reliable sources before sharing any content that could harm communal harmony.

To maintain law and order, restrictions have been imposed across the Kashmir Valley. All schools, colleges, and universities are closed, with Kashmir University postponing exams scheduled for Tuesday. Internet speeds have been throttled valley-wide to curb provocative uploads by anti-social elements. Heavy security deployments are in place at sensitive locations, ensuring no attempts to destabilize peace will be tolerated.

The police remain vigilant, committed to upholding stability in the region.
