Lucknow erupted in political discourse after Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s pointed remark that ‘not everyone can be a Shankaracharya.’ Samajwadi Party spokesperson Abbas Haider sharply criticized the statement, calling it deeply unfortunate that certificates of authenticity are being demanded from revered spiritual leaders.

In an exclusive conversation, Haider questioned the Chief Minister’s authority, asking if Yogi maintains an office to issue certifications to India’s four prominent Shankaracharyas. ‘If such an office exists, he should clarify it publicly,’ Haider asserted, highlighting what he sees as a pattern of disrespect toward these figures.

Haider didn’t stop there. He accused the UP government of repeatedly insulting Shankaracharyas and mistreating their disciples without issuing any apology. ‘This is condemnable and a stain on governance,’ he added, painting a picture of ongoing tension between the state administration and religious leaders.

Shifting gears, Haider addressed a recent incident at Delhi University where a female YouTuber faced misconduct amid UGC guideline protests. While condemning such behavior, he linked it to broader political maneuvers. ‘Akhilesh Yadav rightly pointed out that the youth were uniting against this government, but BJP has conspired to divide the campus,’ Haider claimed.

On a unifying note, Haider extended best wishes to the Indian cricket team ahead of their high-stakes clash with Pakistan in Colombo on February 15. ‘India will triumph not just against Pakistan but throughout the tournament, clinching the World Cup with the prayers of 1.4 billion people behind them,’ he declared enthusiastically.

As Team India settles in Colombo, the nation holds its breath for what promises to be a thrilling encounter. Haider’s multifaceted comments underscore the blend of politics, religion, and national pride dominating headlines.
