Jammu’s security apparatus received a robust boost as SP South Jammu convened a crucial review meeting with Village Defense Guards (VDG) in Phallian Mandal. Under the directives of SSP Jammu, the session aimed to evaluate the current security grid, strengthen inter-agency coordination, and uplift the morale of these frontline defenders along the International Border (IB).

The border areas, notorious for drone-dropped consignments including drugs, demand unwavering vigilance. SP South Jammu emphasized the VDGs’ pivotal role, leveraging their local knowledge to thwart enemy incursions and maintain peace. Discussions covered operational readiness, area intelligence, and sustained surveillance in sensitive zones.

Engaging directly with salaried and voluntary VDGs alongside SDPO South, SHO Satwari, ICP Phallian Mandal, and beat officers, the SP patiently addressed their concerns, assuring prompt resolutions. Commending their dedication, discipline, and commitment to ground-level peace, he urged them to remain perpetually alert, physically fit, and operationally primed.

Highlighting the VDGs’ illustrious legacy—marked by Shaurya Chakras and other gallantry awards—the SP called for upholding traditions of bravery and selfless service. He stressed seamless coordination among VDGs, police, ICP, and other agencies for intelligence sharing and swift threat responses.

VDGs were instructed to stay hyper-vigilant against suspicious activities, drone drops, or infiltration bids, reporting instantly to authorities. To bolster night dominance, small patrol groups—including police personnel—will operate from sunset to sunrise, with all details uploaded to Indian Army and BSF to avoid confusion at nakas.

A thorough check of issued weapons ensured proper servicing, safe handling, storage, and readiness. The meeting concluded on an optimistic note, reinforcing Jammu Police’s solidarity with VDGs in safeguarding national security and peace in South Jammu’s vulnerable fringes.
