New Delhi witnessed a strong reaffirmation from Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday, as he declared that the government will never compromise on farmers’ interests. Speaking to journalists, Chouhan highlighted the remarkable progress in India’s agriculture sector under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
Chouhan praised the surge in rice production, positioning India at the top globally, alongside significant increases in wheat output. ‘Food grain production has risen by 33 percent,’ he noted, expressing confidence in sustained growth. The minister outlined a comprehensive roadmap to address remaining challenges, ensuring no lapses in execution.
Emphasizing the vision of transforming India into the world’s food basket, Chouhan detailed efforts to boost high-quality fruit and vegetable production. The government is simplifying processes to shield farmers from hurdles. ‘Farmers are the backbone of our nation; we cannot allow any dilution of their welfare,’ he asserted.
A key highlight was the introduction of the Bharat Vistar platform, a one-stop digital solution for farmers. This user-friendly tool requires no IT expertise—farmers can simply ask questions in their language and receive instant solutions. Plans are underway to launch it in multiple regional languages, making agricultural guidance accessible nationwide.
Chouhan also announced the upcoming Krishi Vigyan Mela, a mega event designed to equip farmers with cutting-edge knowledge on agricultural transformations. ‘This fair will ensure farmers face no obstacles in modern farming practices,’ he said, underscoring its role in bridging information gaps and fostering innovation.
