In Sitamarhi, Bihar, Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for the Punauradham temple and complex, dedicated to the birthplace of Goddess Sita. He also initiated the Sitamarhi-Delhi Amrit Bharat Express and revealed the design of the Janaki Temple. Shah took the opportunity to criticize Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of vote-bank politics and of already anticipating reasons for a defeat in the upcoming Bihar elections. He further criticized the Congress and RJD for their stance on the SIR process, claiming that illegal immigrants would not be granted voting rights. Shah highlighted the significance of the Punauradham temple, viewing it as a pivotal step in revitalizing Bihar and the Mithilanchal region, with the aim of re-establishing it as a center of learning. He acknowledged the Modi government’s efforts in respecting Mithila. He also mentioned that the culture of Mithilanchal is a unique part of Indian culture. The Maa Janaki temple is being constructed at a cost of 890 crore rupees. 137 crore rupees are dedicated for the renovation of Maa Janaki’s temple. He stated that Indian culture reveres the power of women, referencing Prime Minister Modi’s work on the Ram Temple in Ayodhya and the redevelopment of several religious sites.
