Md. Sarwar Alam, representing the AIMIM party, has secured victory in the Kochadhaman assembly constituency. Alam’s win was emphatic, with him polling 81,860 votes. He defeated the RJD’s Mujahid Alam, who garnered 58,839 votes, by a margin of 23,021 votes. The Kochadhaman seat, part of Bihar’s Kishanganj district, is a general category constituency formed after the 2008 delimitation. Its jurisdiction covers the entire Kochadhaman block and comprises gram panchayats such as Belwa, Mehangaon, Gachchhpara, Chakla, Daula, and Pichhla from the Kishanganj block. A unique characteristic of the Kochadhaman assembly seat is its electoral history, consistently seeing wins for Muslim candidates since its creation. This legacy includes JDU’s Mujahid Alam, who was victorious in the 2014 by-election and successfully defended his seat in the 2015 elections.
