In Lucknow, the ‘Rashtradharma’ magazine hosted a special program at the Bhagidari Bhawan in Gomti Nagar to mark the centenary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The event focused on the release of a special issue dedicated to ‘Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh: 100 Years of Thought Journey.’
Shri Dattatreya Hosabale, the RSS Sarkaryavah and chief guest, emphasized that ‘Rashtradharma’ represents an enduring principle. He highlighted the duty of every Indian citizen to contribute to the nation, stressing the magazine’s origin in the challenging post-independence era of 1948-49, with the aim of driving ideological change, not for financial gain.
Hosabale explained the ethos of a ‘swayamsevak,’ stressing their sense of belonging to society. He reflected on the sacrifices and challenges faced by RSS workers over the past century, and how they remained true to their mission. He also remembered the contributions of leaders like Deendayal Upadhyaya and Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
He stated that as the world recognizes India’s global leadership, the nation must lead through its spirituality, culture and values. He also explained that the RSS aims not only to build an organization but to uplift each individual.
The historical journey of ‘Rashtradharma’ magazine was also remembered at the event. The first issue was published on August 31, 1947, featuring Deendayal Upadhyaya’s article ‘Chiti’ and Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s poem, ‘Hindu Tan Man.’ In the early days, Deendayal ji managed the printing and Atal ji distributed the copies.
The event was presided over by Vinod Solanki, with Aarti Rana as a special guest. Rana shared her experiences on the empowerment of women from the Tharu tribe. Dignitaries included All India Pracharak Pramukh Swantaranjan ji, Cabinet Minister Aseem Arun, and Mayor Sushma Kharkwal. The program concluded with the national anthem.
