Mumbai, March 4 – Union Minister Ramdas Athawale expressed immense joy after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced his name as a candidate for the Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra. In an exclusive conversation, Athawale highlighted his commitment to advancing the central government’s agenda from the Upper House.

Athawale, who serves as a Union Minister, credited Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for his pivotal role in securing the nomination. ‘I briefed CM Fadnavis on the necessity of my presence in Delhi and the Rajya Sabha seat. His relentless efforts made this possible,’ he stated. The minister affirmed his dedication to serving the nation, raising key questions in Parliament, and expanding the work of his ministry across the country.

Despite earlier speculations that his prior two terms might disqualify him—given the party’s informal two-term limit—Athawale’s nomination came through. He dismissed doubts, saying, ‘I always believed it would happen, backed by Fadnavis’s assurance.’

Athawale reiterated his loyalty to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, declaring, ‘As long as PM Modi leads, even into a fourth term, I’ll be in the Rajya Sabha.’ He praised Modi’s ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ mantra, emphasizing inclusive development for all sections of society.

The BJP’s list of Rajya Sabha candidates from Maharashtra also features Vinod Tawde, national general secretary; Maya Chintaman Iwanate; and Ramrao Kudkute. This development strengthens the party’s representation in the Upper House, with Athawale poised to continue his influential role in national politics.

Athawale’s return to the Rajya Sabha underscores the BJP’s trust in experienced leaders who align with its vision. As elections approach, his nomination signals continuity in pushing forward key legislative priorities.
