New Delhi, February 19. Syed Saadatullah Husaini, President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, has urged Muslims to embrace Ramadan not just as a ritual, but as a profound project for inner reform and principled living. In a message released on the eve of the holy month, he emphasized viewing this period as a time to fortify faith and ethics under mounting external pressures.

Husaini highlighted that in an era where belief and principles face constant challenges, fasting should cultivate sincerity, patience, and moral resilience. ‘Devotion to God is a state of the heart, a deep awareness of His presence that instills hesitation towards sin and a natural pull towards goodness,’ he stated in a media release.

He elaborated that fasting transcends mere rituals and external discipline, awakening believers to live with spiritual consciousness. By prioritizing spiritual joys over physical pleasures, Ramadan teaches that bodily comfort does not define a meaningful life. Hunger and self-control reveal deeper truths about human existence.

Repentance and seeking forgiveness during this month purify the soul and refocus one’s purpose, Husaini noted. Calling Ramadan the ‘month of restraint,’ he defined it as standing rock-solid on principles against both external forces and internal temptations.

Fasting trains individuals to maintain control amid hunger, thirst, work burdens, and distractions, ensuring actions stem from conviction rather than impulse. Sacrifices in sleep, eating habits, and daily routines for God’s sake build the willpower to make tough decisions and endure pressures.

Addressing modern challenges, Husaini pointed to the shameless spread via social media and the digital age’s assault on values. He called on Muslims to move beyond superficial observance, transforming Ramadan into a pivotal turning point for personal and collective purification and steadfast resolve.
