Rajya Sabha biennial election: AIUDF to give a boost to Congress candidate Ripun Bora

GUWAHATI: Forward of the Rajya Sabha biennial election on March 31, All India United Democratic Entrance (AIUDF) has determined to give a boost to Congress candidate Ripun Bora, stated AIUDF MLA and celebration Common Secretary Aminul Islam. “All opposition events are assured that, the candidate of the opposition will win one seat,” Islam instructed ANI.

“We went to Delhi, the place we had a gathering with Congress prime command. We had conferences with two basic secretaries of the AICC, Jitendra Singh and KC Venugopal. Sonia Gandhi asked AIUDF leader Badruddin Ajmal to give a boost to Congress. We agreed to give a boost to the Congress candidate,” he added.

Elections to 4 Rajya Sabha seats in 3 Northeastern states – two seats in Assam and one every in Tripura and Nagaland shall be hung on March 31, the Election Fee had introduced previous this month.

Previous on Saturday, Congress has named Rajya Sabha MP and previous Assam president of the celebration Ripun Bora and Kerala Pradesh Mahila Congress president Jeby Mather for the biennial elections to Rajya Sabha from Assam and Kerala respectively.

Previous this month the apex ballot frame had introduced polls to fill 13 Rajya Sabha seats throughout six states falling vacant in April. Those come with Assam (two seats), Himachal (one seat), Nagaland (one seat), Tripura (one seat) and Kerala (3 seats). Aside from this 5 seats from Punjab also are falling vacant with 5 individuals from the state retiring on April 9.

Scrutiny of nominations will happen on March 22. The closing date for withdrawal of candidatures has been scheduled on March 24. The counting of votes of the ballot scheduled on March 31 will happen at the day of polling from 5 pm onwards.
