New Delhi marked International Women’s Day with resounding tributes to the indomitable spirit of women powering India’s defense forces. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh led the charge, praising the bravery, patience, and relentless struggle of India’s ‘Nari Shakti’ as pivotal to the nation’s progress.
On this global celebration of women’s achievements, Singh extended heartfelt wishes to every woman in the country. He highlighted their power, dedication, and unwavering resolve as an inspiration for all. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the government is steadfastly committed to women’s empowerment, creating more opportunities for them to shine in nation-building.
Singh saluted women excelling across sectors, fortifying India. Meanwhile, on the eve of the day, the Army’s RR Hospital in New Delhi hosted a specialized eye care seminar. Organized jointly by Armed Forces Medical Services and AIIMS’s Dr. Rajendra Prasad Centre for Ophthalmic Sciences, it featured Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin, DG AFMS, alongside Professor Radhika Tandon.
Experts delved into complex issues like retinal detachment, fungal corneal infections, and corneal thinning, sharing cutting-edge treatments and management strategies. The Indian Air Force echoed the sentiment, honoring women for their strength and contributions to societal progress.
Western Command’s Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Katiyar wished women officers, soldiers, defense civilians, veterans, and families, emphasizing their courage and leadership as the bedrock of Army traditions. Quoting Sanskrit, ‘Yatra naryastu pujyante ramante tatra devatah,’ he affirmed that where women are revered, divinity resides.
India’s military branches showcase women in action—from piloting advanced jets in the Air Force to global circumnavigations in the Navy, and mastering modern weaponry on the ground. This day underscores the need for gender equality in education, employment, and decision-making for balanced societal growth.
