The Ministry of Home Affairs has officially appointed Rajiv Verma as the new Chief Secretary of Delhi. The 1992-batch IAS officer will replace Dharmendra, the current Chief Secretary, with the transition taking place on October 1st. The official order confirms Verma’s transfer from Chandigarh to the Delhi Government (GNCTD). Verma’s educational background includes a degree from Roorkee University and an MTech from IIT. His career includes experience in areas of government, including defense, finance, urban development, health, and transport. He has held positions such as Deputy Commissioner of Delhi and has served as Additional Secretary in the Urban Development Department and Planning and Program Implementation Department. He was also posted in Goa and has served as Principal Secretary and Commissioner in Delhi. From 2013 to 2017, he held the role of Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Defense and was later Chairman and MD of the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC). In 2024, he served as an advisor to the Chandigarh Administrator.
