Lucknow, February 13: Uttar Pradesh Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar fired back at opposition accusations over law and order, turning the tables on the Samajwadi Party (SP). In a pointed interview, he highlighted the stark contrast between the current BJP-led regime and the previous SP government.

Rajbhar minced no words. ‘The opposition’s job is to oppose good governance,’ he stated. ‘If they praise the government during elections, who would vote for them? That’s why they cry foul.’ He emphasized that under SP rule, riots and curfews were commonplace, but under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, ‘everything is peaceful—no riots, no curfews.’

Diving deeper, Rajbhar accused the SP of shielding criminals during their tenure, fostering a ‘goonda raj.’ Today, he claimed, mafias and troublemakers tremble at the sight of bulldozers ready to raze illegal properties. ‘Even those who protected criminals are now scared,’ he added, directly implicating opposition figures.

This retort comes amid SP chief Akhilesh Yadav’s recent barbs. On Thursday, Yadav criticized police inaction, alleging ‘hot palms, soft police’ and a surge in land mafias under BJP rule. He also slammed the Dial-100 emergency service as dysfunctional.

Rajbhar’s defense underscores the Yogi government’s zero-tolerance policy. Bulldozer actions have become synonymous with swift justice against encroachers and criminals, instilling fear in wrongdoers. As UP gears up for future polls, such exchanges highlight deepening political divides over security and governance.

The minister’s comments signal confidence in the state’s improved law enforcement, crediting it for a riot-free environment. With mafias on the backfoot, Rajbhar portrayed a transformed UP where peace prevails and justice is uncompromising.
