A cabinet meeting, presided over by Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on August 23rd, resulted in crucial decisions designed to foster the state’s development. The primary focus was the ‘Developed Rajasthan-2047’ vision document, along with the approval of new policies and bills. The government is working towards reducing tolls and targeting an economic milestone of $4.3 trillion by 2047. Following the meeting, Industry Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel provided details on the key decisions. Minister Patel highlighted the plans to improve medical and health services, including the establishment of the Rajasthan Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Jaipur, which will be modeled on the AIIMS model. The institute’s bill is slated for the next session. Furthermore, the meeting centered on implementing a clear land allocation policy in urban areas. The Land Allocation Policy 2025 will promote equitable allocation practices. The cabinet also greenlit the construction of a large-scale convention center on Jaipur’s Tonk Road, projected to cost 3500 crore and accommodate 7,000 attendees. This project will be executed by the same firm that built Bharat Mandapam and is expected to be completed within three years. In addition, the cabinet approved the allocation of 1280 hectares of land for a solar power plant, intended to generate 2500 MW of electricity. The government has mandated the planting of five trees for every tree cut during the project. Rajasthan is aiming to become a green energy hub. The Rajasthan Fisheries (Amendment) Bill 2025 was also passed, raising the penalties for fisheries-related offenses and prohibiting the unnecessary killing of fish. The cabinet also approved changes to the Rajasthan State Highway Toll Rules to adhere to central government guidelines. The Factories (Rajasthan Amendment) Bill 2025 was sanctioned, allowing a 12-hour workday and permitting women to work night shifts under safety protocols.
