New Delhi buzzed with political heat after Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi labeled Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu a ‘traitor’ in the Lok Sabha. JD(U) spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad sharply criticized the remark, calling it unfit for parliamentary discourse. ‘Words like traitor have no place in the House,’ he asserted, slamming Gandhi’s ‘childish behavior’ that repeatedly embarrasses his party.
Prasad told reporters that such antics from the LoP corner the Congress into awkward positions, forcing eventual remorse. BJP spokesperson Pratul Shah Dev joined the fray, pointing out the irony: over two dozen of Congress’s 99 Lok Sabha MPs have defected. ‘Gandhi has insulted the Sikh community,’ Dev charged, noting Congress’s questionable history with Sikhs.
Calling a Sikh leader a traitor disrespects a community renowned for sacrifice, Dev added. Meanwhile, Prasad took a swipe at West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee over her Delhi visits and protests against voter list revisions. He recalled similar drama in Bihar led by Tejashwi Yadav and Gandhi, which yielded nothing.
Dev accused Banerjee of inflating 50 lakh voter deletions in Bengal to stoke unrest and craft a narrative of conspiracy if she loses elections. As tensions simmer across party lines, the exchanges highlight deepening rifts ahead of key electoral battles.
