Rahul Gandhi addressed a press conference, raising questions about the BJP’s apparent ability to avoid anti-incumbency, a common challenge for political parties in democratic settings. To highlight the issues surrounding the SIR policy, Gandhi utilized the hashtag #VoteChori. He argued that, unlike other parties, the BJP seemed unaffected by anti-incumbency. He cited examples from Haryana and Madhya Pradesh elections, where results differed greatly from pre-election polls. He also noted that internal polling data corroborated these concerns, suggesting a pattern of unexpected outcomes. Gandhi specifically accused and raised allegations about the Maharashtra elections, he stated that the addition of numerous voters within a brief time frame raised suspicions, and he also stated that a significant spike in voter turnout after 5 PM was unusual. He said there were one crore new voters during the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections. He further mentioned the Election Commission’s refusal to provide voter lists and its decision to destroy CCTV footage, further intensifying his allegations of electoral misconduct.
