In a major breakthrough ahead of Republic Day celebrations, Punjab Police in Hoshiarpur district dismantled a terror module linked to the Pakistan ISI-backed Babbar Khalsa International (BKI). Acting on precise intelligence, joint teams from Hoshiarpur and Jalandhar Counter Intelligence swooped down on a hideout in SBS Nagar’s Rahon area, arresting four operatives.

The suspects, identified as Diljot Singh, Harman Singh alias Harry alias Hari, Ajay alias Mehra, and Arshdeep Singh alias Arsh Kandhola, were found in possession of a sophisticated 2.5 kg RDX-based Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and two pistols. Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav confirmed the recovery, emphasizing the plot’s timing just days before the national festivities.

Preliminary investigations reveal the module was orchestrated by BKI handlers based in the United States. The IED was reportedly assembled for a targeted attack during Republic Day events. ‘This was a clear attempt to disrupt peace and security,’ DGP Yadav stated, adding that raids continue to uncover forward and backward linkages.

Hoshiarpur SSP Sandeep Malik detailed the operation, noting that the weapons were smuggled across borders from Ferozepur and Amritsar rural areas under foreign spy directions. The module handled procurement and logistics for these illicit arms.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for explosives and arms violations at Garhshankar police station. Security agencies remain on high alert, with intensified surveillance across Punjab to thwart any similar threats. This operation underscores Punjab Police’s unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order amid rising terror activities.
