In a meeting with the Union Food Minister, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann pressed for the release of over ₹9,000 crore in pending dues. These funds are related to the Rural Development Fund (RDF) and Market Fees, crucial for supporting rural infrastructure and agricultural activities. Mann pointed out the adverse effects of non-reimbursement on rural development. He also discussed the challenges of rice storage and the need for efficient rice movement to avoid disruptions during procurement. The Chief Minister also raised concerns about the Aarthia Commission and the need to adjust procurement dates to support farmers.
