In a significant step towards elevating Punjab’s public education system, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday flagged off the eighth batch of 30 government school principals heading to Singapore for advanced training at the Principals Academy. This initiative underscores the AAP government’s commitment to globalizing teaching practices and strengthening the state’s educational framework.
Speaking at the send-off event in Chandigarh, Mann emphasized that the primary goal is to expose educators to international best practices. ‘Our vision is to ensure every child in Punjab receives world-class education,’ he stated, highlighting ongoing efforts to equip teachers and principals with modern methodologies.
The Chief Minister also seized the occasion to address pressing political matters. He vowed fierce opposition to the Punjab Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2025, criticizing it as detrimental to the state’s interests. Mann didn’t hold back in targeting the BJP-led central government, Congress, and Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal, accusing them of undermining Punjab’s progress.
On social media platform X, Mann shared his enthusiasm: ‘Today, another batch of principals from Punjab’s government schools departed for training in Singapore. I met them, wished them luck, and motivated them for a successful trip.’ He further elaborated on the government’s broader mission to build an education system that empowers children to dream big and achieve those dreams.
This marks the eighth such batch, with 234 principals and education officers having benefited so far. A transparent selection process, verified by district education officers, ensures merit-based participation. During their week-long program from March 8 to 14, principals will immerse in cutting-edge teaching techniques.
Upon return, these leaders are expected to disseminate their learnings, fostering a ripple effect across Punjab’s schools. This program is breathing new life into the education sector, positioning teachers as catalysts for transformative change and guaranteeing high-quality education for students.
