MUMBAI: February 14, 2019, remains etched in India’s collective memory as a day of profound tragedy. On this black day, a suicide bomber from Jaish-e-Mohammed rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into a CRPF convoy in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, claiming the lives of 40 brave jawans. Today, marking the seventh anniversary of this heinous terror attack, the nation pauses to remember those heroes.

Filmmaker and president of the Film and Television Producers Association, Ashok Pandit, took to Instagram to pay a heartfelt tribute. In an emotional post, he wrote, ‘Seven years since the Pulwama attack – a sorrowful chapter in India’s history. We salute the 40 CRPF jawans who laid down their lives in the 2019 terror strike.’ His words resonate with millions still grappling with the loss.

The attack shook the nation to its core, prompting decisive action. India responded with the Balakot airstrike, targeting terror camps across the border. The CRPF personnel were en route from Jammu to Srinagar when the assailant struck, leaving behind grieving families and a stunned country.

Leaders across the spectrum joined in commemorating the Black Day. Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared on social media, ‘The dedication, bravery, and service of the Pulwama martyrs on February 14, 2019, will forever inspire every Indian.’ Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan emphasized, ‘Their sacrifice fuels our resolve to unite against terrorism.’

Union Minister Ramdas Athawale, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, and NCP’s Sharad Pawar also offered tributes. They vowed to eradicate terrorism, honoring the jawans’ ultimate sacrifice. Citizens from all walks of life expressed solidarity with the martyrs’ families, lighting lamps and sharing stories of valor.

As the sun sets on this somber anniversary, the flame of remembrance burns brighter. The Pulwama bravehearts remind us that freedom’s price is paid in blood, urging a united front against terror. Their legacy endures, a beacon for future generations.
