New Delhi witnessed sharp criticism from Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi against the central government on Friday. In an exclusive interview, she demanded accountability from Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his third term, emphasizing balanced growth for India’s progress.

Chaturvedi highlighted the stark disconnect between India’s rising global economic status and the ground reality for ordinary citizens. ‘The PM boasts of India becoming the third-largest economy, but per capita income tells a different story,’ she said. Unemployment has hit record highs, and farmers are struggling amid unfavorable policies.

She pointed to the recent decision to impose zero tariffs on US agricultural imports while Indian exports to America face 18% duties. ‘This lopsided trade policy directly harms our farmers,’ Chaturvedi asserted, urging a reevaluation to protect domestic interests.

The MP also raised concerns over growing comparisons with Bangladesh and diplomatic strains, accusing the government of distorting historical achievements of past leaders. ‘People expect honesty from the PM, not rewritten history,’ she remarked.

On parliamentary disruptions, Chaturvedi condemned the Speaker’s remarks blaming women MPs for security threats to the PM. ‘Parliament is the safest place; it’s shameful to fault women protesters,’ she said. With women’s reservation promised by 2029, such blame games undermine democracy.

Addressing Manipur’s crisis, she criticized power games post-President’s rule, calling it a betrayal of democratic norms. Chaturvedi stressed that without tackling unemployment, farmer distress, and women’s safety, true development remains elusive. ‘Bold claims need real action; citizens demand tangible change.’
